Barnardo's wanted to create a captivating, interactive app that addresses a sensitive topic and encourages the safety of children using real-life scenarios. Barnardo's aim for the app was to allow users to share their interactive outcomes via social media to raise awareness of sexual exploitation.
Barnados' required the expertise of an app development agency to develop an educational tool aimed at showing young people the behaviours that could put them at risk of being sexually exploited, with the aim of preventing such occurrences using a platform that is accessible to all younger generations; a mobile app.
Red C helped Barnardo's build the 'Wud U?' app to present sensitive issues to young people in an accessible, illustrative and immersive way. Ultimately, 'Wud U?' helps demonstrate to young people how they can make safe decisions.
Red C held two workshops in order to brainstorm the most effective ways to help children online. The result of which was to incorporate interactive, real-life stories and commission an illustrator to create the visual scenarios relevant to the target audience.
The 'Wud U?' app received an overwhelmingly positive public response. Users claim that the app has some 'great stories and tips' and the designs and illustrations help create the immersive and engaging experience the app offers its users.
